Abu Dhabi rounds out the top eight:

The configuration of the rankings for the first tournament of the year of the world’s best padel racquets has been revealed.

The countdown is drawing to a close. The World Padel Tour is finalising the details of its start this year, which will be the second of three stages (the first being A1 Padel).

This will see players travel to Abu Dhabi to kick off their impressive desert tour and begin the countdown.

And to whet your appetite for what will also be the first Master of the Year, the list of seeded pairs for the Modon Abu Dhabi Master 2023 has already been compiled, with Fernando Belasteguin and Sanyo Gutierrez starting as the number two pair ahead of their former teammates and main rivals for the silver medal, Arturo Coelho and Agustin Tapia.

It makes sense that Alejandro Galan and Juan LeBron would be at the top, with Paquito Navarro and Juan Telho, Franco Stupachuk and Martin Di Nenno, ‘Momo’ Gonzalez and Alex Ruiz, ‘Coca’ Nieto and Pablo Lima and Javi Garrido and Fede Cingotto rounding out the top eight.

As for the girls, Alejandra Salazar and Gemma Triay start from the first position, followed by Ari Sanchez and Paula Josemaria, with Martita Ortega and Bea Gonzalez completing the podium.

They are followed by Patti Llaguno and Victoria Iglesias, the duo formed by Lucia Sainz and Aranza Osoro, Vero Virceda and Barbara Las Heras in the top six, and rounding out the six are Mapi and Maggio Sanchez Alaeto and Virginia Riera and Tamara Icardo.

The second tournament of the season also starts the engines.

At the same time, mention should also be made of the start of the competition in La Rioja, and more specifically this weekend, when the qualifying rounds will be played in Madrid.

It will, as usual, be Madrid and not the country hosting the tournament as originally established by the scheme, a position that was forgotten after a logical step backwards because of the expense that would have meant, given the countless trips, for the preliminary level players, who, remember, do not have the same income as the top players and also receive much smaller prize money.

In the qualifying tournament in Argentina, we’ll see matches with many new faces and pairings in both the men’s and women’s draws, which will be scrutinised by fans for the first time.

For example, we will see Sara Pujals and Jimena Velasco in action, Lorena Alonso along with Sandra Hernandez, Julia Polo and Nicole Traviesa, Ari Cañellas and Sandra Bellver or Carolina Orsi along with Lea Godalle in the women’s section and, to list just a few, Daniel Bressel and Ramiro Pereira will be present in the men’s section, Diego Gil and Boris Castro, Jesus Moya and Francisco Guerrero, Miki Solbes and Cristobal Garcia, Pablo Garcia and Martin Sanchez Pinheiro, brothers Alvaro and Pedro Meléndez, Borja Iribarren and Candido Jose Alfaro, Alvaro Cepero will share the court with Arnau Ayats and Mario Huete with Benjamin Tison.
