Common mistakes made by new to the game of padel
What are the most common mistakes among novice padel players?
Can they be solved with practice?
Of course they can.
You only need the best padel and a good dose of patience.
Today we want to offer some tips for solving those small mistakes that we can see in almost all players who start playing padel and, in many cases, transitioning out of tennis. And in that no one has a magic wand and enters the courts to play padel, and that is Fernando Belasteguin. So here we leave the most frequent mistakes among amateur players and beginners to learn the game of padel.
Attention with the grip of the pala handle!
One of the most significant changes that can be made to the padel in relation to the pala is changing the grip of the racquet handle to play the pala. This is one of the most common mistakes among those who begin learning to play the padel without consulting a monitor or coach. Subsequently, correcting this change is not easy. Why? Because the player is forced to change the angle of entry to the ball and gives the feeling of starting from the beginning. This is why you already know: make sure you make the right tackle from the start. Consult a padel coach to learn how to play the game.
Coordination is fundamental in the game of padel.
Coordination in this sport is fundamental to hit the ball at the right time and in the right place. Therefore, it is very important to move with step adjustments to place us at the correct distance from the ball. When we start playing padel, it is very normal to get too close to the ball or stay very far away until we learn to read the trajectory and speed of the ball. Undoubtedly the most common mistake made by inexperienced padel players concerns the static hitting of the ball, without turning the body towards the incoming ball.
Placement on the court.
Padel court positioning is very static on the backhand line and is more variable when playing at the net. Depending on where the ball is on the opposite side of the opponents court, we will move forward towards the net or further back. For this reason, when we are beginner padel players, we are usually poorly positioned on the court, leaving gaps and also need to move too much. Thus, we make three times as many movements and we exhaust ourselves early.
Undercutting ball strikes.
One of the most common mistakes that causes the ball to hit directly into the opponent’s glass wall without bouncing off the court on the opposite side of the court is hitting the ball from the same plane parallel to the ball’s trajectory. Thus, the undercut shot must start at the top and end under the point where the stick strikes the ball.
Hitting with force and without control.
Another very common mistake is to hit the ball with power shots from anywhere on the court with little or no technique to execute one of the riskiest shots when playing the padel.
Bent legs at the knees.
It’s quite normal to see beginners learning to play padel who barely bend their knees when they hit the ball. Even on the lowest passing balls, you tend to arch your back but not bend your legs at the knees. Keep in mind that playing the padel with bent legs at the knees will allow us to quickly and accurately perform all the actions for the padel game.
